Throughout the month we offer various open dances for students and the public to come and experience the joy of dancing in a safe, non-intimidating, all ages, non-club environment!  Each social/practice is started with a basic lesson (occassionally an intermediate lesson in the case of the Salsa social) followed by open dancing, refreshments and snacks, socializing, instructor support, and general dancing fun!  We encourage people to bring family members of all levels and other dance-curious friends.  The cost for all of this?  $5.  

HOST YOUR OWN DANCE PARTY!  Our instructors and studios are available to help you host your own dance party here at the Viscount!  Gather your friends, co-workers, or family members for an evening of dancing and socializing in the privacy of our centrally located studios!  This is a very economical way to get your group to learn and have fun without the company of strangers...call to arrange one today  503.226.3262.  The average cost of a private 2 hr dance party/workshop is $250.  Such a deal!!!

Salsa Social

SATURDAY, January 7th 2:15-3p intro or specialty lesson, 3-5:30p open dancing

Once a month Viscount hosts an open Salsa social dance for Salsaeros and those who are curious about this popular Latin dance. The social begins with a short warm up lesson (2:15-3pm) in Studio A for first time Salsa students that covers the basics and a move or two use immediately!  In Studio B, Sarah Riddle teaches a specialty class for those with a little more experience ranging from Salsa shines, dips for the dancefloor, Cha Cha, or turn technique! Then music, socializing, refreshments and snacks are the name of the game until 5:30pm for just $5. These practices are ALL AGES, so bring your young dancing friends (free to anyone 18 yrs and younger)! Instructors will be on hand to answer questions and to simply have fun and hang out with! This is a great way to improve your dance skills and form connections with other dance students without the pressure of public dance clubs.  

Swing Social

FRIDAY, December 16th + January 20th, 7:30-8:15p  specialty lesson (any level), 8:30-10:00p open dancing

Experience of dancing in an open and easy environment!  You and yours can come down to the Viscount Studios and practice what you've learned in Swing class without the pressure of being in a club!  DJed by Viscount's own Melissa Roane, students get to meet other students from other Swing classes and practice their moves in a smoke free, alcohol free, all ages environment, with an instructor on hand to help out!  Snacks and refreshments will be provided.  $5 per person.  No partner or registration required.

Tango Practica

EVERY SUNDAY, rain or shine or snow!!!  1-2p beginning lesson, 2-5:30p open dancing *NO PRACTICA X-MAS DAY

The Practica is an informal dance where students are encouraged to dance with other dancers of varying levels, try new things, make misakes, practice, ask for feedback, and play!  An instructor is on hand for asking questions and discussing concepts.  Venders of various Tango related goods are often in attendance, making the practica a one-stop-shop-and-dance event! It costs $5 per person to attend the Sunday Tango Practica, which includes the drop-in lesson, refreshments, and snacks! 

Zydeco Dance Party

EVERY FRIDAY, 8-8:30 beginning lesson, 8:30-10:30p open dancing $5

Every Friday after the intermediate lesson!  Viscount Zydeco dancers and Zydeco dancers from the community are welcome to join Janine and Roland Jemerson of Cascade Zydeco for this weekly event! Low lighting, bright music, the best company, and good times all around.  Laissez les bon temps roulez!
