LINDY HOP 4 (INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED) with
Stefan & Bethany: Think you know
all there is to know about the Lindy Hop? Or are you looking to
expand your "book" of moves and technique? This class
will cover all the advanced concepts of Savoy style Lindy Hop including
moves, musicality, style, frame, technique, and lead/follow connection.
**Pre-Requisite: This class is designed
for the Intermediate/Advanced level Lindy Hopper. Students should be
at or above the Lindy 3 level and should have completed at least one
session of Lindy 3 or equivalent.

INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED
SALSA with George Caceres, Artistic Director of Sabor Latino Dance

Do you feel like your Salsa dancing is getting a little stale? Are you
ready to add some excitement and flair to your Salsa dancing? Well this
is the class you've all been waiting for. Our Int/Adv Salsa class will
be taught in a workshop format which will focus on footwork and partnering
technique while emphazing on styling and body movement. Each week you
ill learn new and exciting moves to add to your reportoire.
Pre-Requisite Intermediate Salsa 2 or equivalent
level of experience.
BEGINNING/INTERMEDIATE MAMBO (NEW YORK STYLE
SALSA ON 2) with George Caceres, Artistic Director of Sabor Latino Dance
Co. :Come and join the Portland "On 2" Evolution. NY Salsa "On
2", also known as Mambo, has been seducing dancers from all over the world,
from London to Japan, New York to San Francisco and now taking over Portland.
NY Style Salsa concentrates on being smooth and elegant while dancing
"On 2", The moves are stylish and focus on making the woman the centerpiece
of the dance. Women love it for the attention they get and guys love it
because making their partner look good makes them look good too! Our Beg/Int
NY Salsa "On 2" class will be taught in a workshop format which will focus
on building the foundation needed to dance NY Style Salsa "On 2" and incorporate
turn patterns, footwork, styling and most importantly "On 2" timing.
Pre-Requisite: Beginning Salsa 3 or equivalent level of experience.
SALSA PRACTICA: The Saturday Evening Practica (Practice) runs weekly
from 7:00-9:00pm.

PRACTICA'S:
Cost $5 per person and includes the drop-in lesson and light snacks. They
are informal dances where you are encouraged to practice, ask for feedback,
etc. An instructor is on hand for asking questions, discussing concepts,
etc. These are not a series of classes (pre-registration is not available
or required).
TANGO PRACTICA: The Sunday Afternoon Practica (Practice) runs
weekly from 1:00-5:30pm. Cost is $5 per person, per visit, and this
includes a drop-in lesson from 1-2pm.

FOLLOWER'S
LATIN STYLING TECHNIQUE with Sarah Riddle: This class will be a
fun and informative way to learn how to play with your own unique style.
Options of hand & arm stylings, as well as fancy footwork and cuban
hip motion will be broken down and explained in detail. Whether you are
looking for a competitive edge in your dancing or simply a way to dress
up your social dance style -- this class will teach you how to add some
flavor toppings to plain vanilla, it will provide new confidence and greater
understanding of how to dance with your whole body and not just the learned
steps of the feet! Explore the possibilities -- from facial expression,
hand & arm styling, down to etiquette & costume details -- Styling
suggestions will be offered from head to toe!

SALSA PERFORMANCE CLASS with George & Sarah
of Sabor Latino: This is a fantastic opportunity to show off all
of your hard work, time and energy spent mastering this dance. Choreography
will be challenging and will really take your Salsa dancing to that "next
Level". This is an 8-week series and each class will be 1-hour, 30-minutes
in duration. At the end of the session, you will perform at The Bossanova
Wednesday Salsa night!

is ever changing and is designed to be repeated over and over. Material
will vary each week and will focus on styling techniques, complicated
patterns and variations, musicality, tricks and more. Pre-requisite Intermediate
Salsa 1 or equivalent level of experience. |

INTERMEDIATE SALSA 1 with George & Sarah
of Sabor Latino: We're getting serious now! Intermediate Salsa
1 is for Salsa dancers who have completed our series of beginning level
classes, feel very much at home with the basic moves and styling and want
to expand their repertoire. Do you want your Salsa dancing to be challenged?
You've asked for it and you'll get it in this class! Get ready to sweat
though, as the pace of this class is fast and energetic. Intermediate
Salsa will prepare you to bring flash & excitement to the dance floor
with more creative combinations. Pre-requisite Beginning Salsa 3 or equivalent
level of experience. |

WEST COAST SWING 3 with Chris Jones:
WCS 3 - This class focuses on intermediate to advanced level dancers.
It is designed for those persons who, at a minimum, are accomplished
at the fundamentals taught in both WCS 1 and WCS 2. We will start each
class with foundation patterns, then add embelishment and styling.
Pre-requisite WCS 1 & WCS 2 or instructor
approval.

WEST
COAST SWING 2 with Chris Jones: This class is intended for people
who are comfortable with the basic patterns of West Coast Swing. The foundation
of any dance is grounded in the fundamental basics. For this reason we
will generally start with basic patterns and then spice them up to create
endless variations. This is a lead and follow dance and emphasis will
be placed on proper execution of each of these roles. We will also learn
syncopations for both the leader and the follower. Pre-requisite
WCS 1 or instructor approval. |

WEST
COAST SWING 1 with Chris Jones: This class starts out where you
would expect it to, with the basics! Working on the fundamentals of this
dance you will focus strongly on the concepts of lead and follow while
building a vocabulary of basic West Coast Swing moves. Whereas this class
is certainly intended for the beginner, more experienced WCS dancers will
most certainly benefit from the time spent returning to the fundamentals.

"A" and "B" series of material. Pre-requisite Beginning Salsa 1 or equivalent
level of experience.
BEGINNING SALSA 3 with George & Sarah:
In this class you will begin to incorporate more of the styling and
flair required for giving your Salsa dancing that edge. As you continue
to focus heavily on leader and follower techniques you will begin to
feel much more confident with your Salsa dancing. Pre-requisite Beginning

HOP with Selena: Learn fierce moves, MTV style. This urban funk
dancing set to contemporary music emphasizes body movement and rhythm.
Bring your sneakers and your soul and check your pride at the door because
it's all about having fun and feeling healthy! This style boasts that
EVERYONE is capable of taking part and having a blast.This class is geared
towards dancers of all levels and warm up, cool down and proper stretching
techniques will be strongly emphasized.

- 7:30 ARGENTINE TANGO Level 1 (BEGINNERS) with Megan.
Level 1 is for total beginners, folks with
just a smattering of drop-in classes, and students who want to start
learning "the other" role. The goals are to familiarize
students with basic tango concepts and movements, to provide a solid
foundation for more complex or subtle tango, and to have fun!
In Nov-Dec, we work on the fundamentals of lead:follow, connection,
the embrace, playing with the music, rocking check steps, a check
turn, and the signature step of tango, La Cruzada (the Cross). All
in the parallel system, and using both tango & milonga rhythms.
No partner required. No pre-requisites

- 8:30 ARGENTINE TANGO Level 2 (BEYOND BEGINNERS) with Megan &
either Chris or Bill.
Level 2 builds on the skills established in Level 1 and adds another
layer of foundational material. We refine lead:follow principles,
introduce the 3rd of the basic rhythms (vals), and add key new concepts
and vocabulary.
There are 2 months of Level 2. Odd numbered months (Sept, Nov,
etc) are 2A. Even numbered months (Oct, Dec, etc) are 2B. It does
not matter whether you start with A or B. Pre-requisites: Level
1A & 1B, or instructor pre-approval. No partner required.
Level 2 builds on the skills established in Level 1 and adds another
layer of foundational material. We refine lead:follow principles,
introduce the 3rd of the basic rhythms (vals), and add key new concepts
and vocabulary.
November-Dec is all aout The Crossed Foot System -- a whole new
universe in which no one is ever "on the wrong foot".
We will cover a couple ways of changing systems, and some "steps"
that easily flow from the changes. (e.g., back ochos, walking on
3 tracks, La Cruzada). It opens up new ways to be musical, expressive
and creative, and expands the flexibility of connection with your
partner. And we will add the tango vals rhythms. Pre-requisite:
minimum of Level 1A and 1B (in any order), or teacher pre-approval.

BELLYDANCE
1 with Tiffany: This class is a fun, physically challenging way
to increase body awareness, coordination, balance, and self confidence.
You will start with the basic
components of bellydance: posture, body framing, isolations, and beginning
movement. Finger cymbals will also be introduced at this level. Please
wear something that will enable you to see your body move. Hip scarves
and bare feet are also encouraged.
BELLYDANCE 2 / Intermediate:
In this class, we will be learning intermediate to advanced movement
as well as traveling steps and combinations. We will utilize props such
as
veils, finger cymbals, etc. Bellydance 2 is intended for the student
with a knowledge of basic concepts, movements, and body isolations.
Pre-requisite: 3 months of Bellydance 1 and/or
instructor approval.
BELLYDANCE 3 / /Performance level:
This class is intended for students who aspire to perform, either with
a group or as a solo dancer. We will be learning choreographed routines
as well as music interpretation. This is an 8-week course. Performance
opportunities will be announced. Pre-requisite:
