Sarah Riddle - Owner

Sarah, and all the instructors associated with the Viscount,  take running the Studios very seriously as it is one of Portland's longest standing dance institutions!  They believe that people learn to dance for the fun of it, and that the Viscount should be a safe place for experimenting, making mistakes, building friendships, and enjoying the learning process.  We believe that the student always comes first and that instructors are only as good as the smile on their students faces.

The Founders of The Viscount Studios

Founded in May of 2000, the Viscount Dance Studios was owned & operated by Jeff Freeman & Janine Twining. Working closely with the former Viscount Ballroom which was conveniently located upstairs, they were instrumental in the revival of swing dancing and Lindyhop in Portland. After starting with Swing they grew the syllabus to include a plethora of dances including Salsa, Tango, Hip-hop, Bellydancing, Tap, and Balboa. Jeff also own and maintains SwingOut.net, a web site dedicated to promoting all aspects of Lindy Hop and Vintage Swing dancing in Portland.
